Busy summer
So this summer I decided to replace the windows in the house. After signing the contract on what I thought was a decent price, and finding out it wasn't the window were installed about 3 weeks later. Then the heating and AC unit started misbehaving. Well to make a long story short, siding got replaced, ceramic tile went down in the kitchen, living room, hallway and bathroom, walls got painted, new wooden blinds and curtains went up through the house. A 6 foot privacy fence now surrounds my back yard. 560 feet of it. Next the deck will makes it's way into the space that now is occupied by bricks and wood we use to climb in and out of the back door. I am not sure why we use that door. The front door is much better! Anyway, if you have ever read he book, "If you give a mouse a cookie" you will know what happened at our house. The good thing is we did a lot of the work ourselves. Our electricity bill is half of what it used to be. That is sweet. We had a garden this year. The drought didn't help out but we got a good amount of tomatoes. The squirrels once again stripped the apple and pear tree before we even got one piece of fruit darn it. We have a good supply of wood on hand to heat with this winter. I love having the wood stove. It has a flat top on it and during the ice storm years ago we actually cooked our food on it as it heated the house. Real pioneers we were!
